Aslı Der tells the story of domestic violence and violence against women from the viewpoint of a teenage girl.
Overview
While trying to understand how to manage the violence her father is inflicting upon her entire family, Ece meets Cem who moved into their building. Thanks to her friendship with Cem, Ece starts to discover ways of defeating problems which in the past seemed impossible to solve. While problems inside her family are getting more intense each day, Ece is fascinated by the way her Dutch friend lives his life.
Aslı Der
She was born in İstanbul in 1975. After graduating from Galatasaray Highschool, she completed her degree on philosophy at Boğaziçi University. She has many translations from English and French to Turkish. Her first children’s novel Sheroks the Little Witch (Küçük Cadı Şeroks, 2001) brought her deep and rich knowledge of philosophy into children’s literature. Then, in sequel to her first book, she wrote Big Trap (Büyük Tuzak, 2007) and the book was awarded as IBBY Turkey Children’s Novel of the Year 2007.
