Another perceptive story by Behiç Ak that will make you smile, about natural life and human relations.
In this book of his “Cheerful Stories” collection Behiç Ak makes his readers ponder over concepts of attachment and leaving. Why and what do we get attached to, why and what do we leave? Does everything around us really belong to us? In the story of young Elif and Umut the turtle, the author describes the relationship people build with each other, life and the realities of nature. Story draws the attention of readers to the parallelism between human behaviour and that of animals. Ak who is a master observer of life through the eyes of different generations, once again gives clues to understanding children’s dreams.
Overview
Young Elif whose parents work on nature protection project is a child who speaks very rare. Havva with whom she spends her days is her only friend and confidante. When they had to move to Adana City for a project concerning sea turtles, Elif had to leave Havva behind carrying her in her heart. It is the season for sea turtles to lay eggs. Elif and her parents joined a protection and research group. The efforts of the baby turtles to reach the sea and Elif’s efforts to reach Havva again converge, but how?
