Ömer Açık

He was born in Adana in 1980. He grew up in Ankara and graduated from Hacettepe University Education Department. His first job as a teacher was in a village in Adana, then in Mardin and then in İstanbul. Açık loves to be with children, to be on the streets and to travel. In his first children’s novel A Station Called Violet (Menekşe İstasyonu, 2015), he tells the story of a neighborhood and solidarity. And in his next children’s novel My Dad’s Hilarious (Benim Babam Ömür Adam, 2015) he tells about a boy who has a limitless imagination and wants to wander around with wind. He continued to tell his stories to children with Blazerless (Montsuzlar, 2017) by arguing about alphabetical order admittance over the justice metaphor. And his latest children’s novel My Stubborn Grandpa (Taşkafa, 2018) tells the story of three close friends gathered together around a family secret and have a really strong curiosity for crossing the line. Açık lives in İstanbul with his wife and daughter.
